Hi! Hallo! Namaste! Привіт! Привет!
My yoga journey started in my mid-20’s with yoga videos on Youtube. I have never been flexible and strong and I didn’t like working out at all. I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was a child and was told to avoid physical activities like jumping and running, skip most activities during P.E. classes, and go to physical therapy two times a year. Needless to say, I never developed any interest in sports and exercising. I tried to start working out as an adult but couldn’t find any physical activity that I would enjoy.
Yoga was something I wanted to try for a long time, but I couldn’t find local yoga classes that worked for my schedule and budget. One day I finally stopped making excuses, typed “yoga for beginners” into a Youtube search and started practicing at home. Best decision ever!
When I started practicing yoga, it was like something suddenly clicked. Even though many poses were hard at first and I struggled to follow along as a beginner sometimes, I felt better than ever before and kept practicing almost every day because I enjoyed it so much. With yoga, I finally found the joy of moving my body. Soon after that, I started to feel how physical practice on the mat translated into my life off the mat. I learned to deal with stress and anxiety in a more sustainable way, make conscious choices, and be present in the moment.
All this led to my decision to change a career from teaching languages to teaching yoga. I did my first yoga teacher training in India and continue to attend workshops and events that help me develop as a teacher.
But if it wasn’t for those free yoga videos on Youtube, perhaps I would never even start practicing yoga. That’s why I’m passionate about teaching yoga online and sharing my love for yoga with people from all over the world through online classes and my Youtube channel.
I describe my teaching style as simple and functional. You won’t hear much about yoga philosophy in my classes (unless you ask 🙂 ) because I prefer to keep physical practice separate from philosophy teachings. Instead, I like to focus on breath and alignment instructions, variations and modifications of the poses to help the students learn more about themselves and find what feels good in their bodies. Surprisingly or not, the inner transformation often happens on its own and students start to feel the benefits of yoga off the mat without me ever talking about it in class.
My mission is to help people all around the world discover the benefits of yoga and build sustainable yoga practice for life.
